Intel HDA is a very flexible design - there's so much variation from one
machine to the next, you really need to find someone with the same
laptop who can verify that sound works.

It might be helpful to search the ALSA bug tracker for that laptop and
codec.

Ideally you would have the opportunity to test a recent live CD distro
on it before buying.
