Terratec EWS88MT: 60.7 extra frames of delay, same figure as
yours.

This amounts to 30 frames for each in and out, and is not excessive.
Take some frames for digital buffering, serial transmission to/from
converters etc. and the rest will be the anti-aliasing filters.
A linear-phase filter has a delay equal to half its lenght.

A delay of 14 frames (7 in each direction) means that the filters
are either not linear-phase, or that they will not be very flat
near Fs/2.
