This page explains how to do it for kernel modules, but you can do it
for any Debian package:
<http://wiki.freespire.org/index.php/Upgrading_Kernel_Modules>

Basically you:
* apt-get source blah
* download and un-tar the new tarball for blah and then go into blah/
* modify debian/changelog
* sudo dpkg-buildpackage

YMMV.

Best,

Chris.
