Many thanks to all who responded in this thread. Alas, I've found no way
to eliminate the echo effect on Ivy's Inspiron. I altered every mixer
setting I could find, nothing changed the (very irritating) effect. So
the Inspiron gets a "No way!" vote from me re: its on-board sound
facilities. Nice machine otherwise though.
