I won't disagree with anything you wrote.

I suppose it takes a special breed of person to use, let alone
work on, open source software. I imagine there could be a
special breed of person who would enjoy open source music. Once
upon a time someone might have written, "you guys are funny"
regarding open source code development.

Time will tell. I'm willing to give it a whirl.....
