I'm sure it is, but I can't see how.
My GIMP frustration is when pasting into an existing picture; I get a
new layer, and I can't do anything until I anchor it. When I anchor
it, the layer and any selection involved with it disappear.
Probably as simple as looking it up or asking online... haven't gotten
that motivated yet.
