[LAU] Can't compile on Ubuntu

While trying to compile any application on Ubuntu, after typing ./configure
i get :
bowman@email-addr-hidden:~/Desktop/pd-0.40-3/src$ ./configure
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C
compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

How can i fix it ?
