So if I really need more than 2 ins/4 channels (USB1) I should go for
a FA. And now I wonder, given the feedback related to this in the
list, is it that is not so "good" the state of the art in alsa special
drivers for those UA 2.0 non standard interfaces with >=4ins? By now,
don't they provide similar functionalities?

The thing is that It makes totally sense to me what you say. I'm
really considering buying a FA.
It's just that I think the only real disadvantage for me is that I was
considering to get to a kind of recording mobile DAW (usefull for
recording at rehearsal places or gigs) with something like an EEE Pc
(similar idea to Ken's EEE 1000) or some other light, cheap and
portable netbook/portable, and they don't use to have firewire.
