Thanks. That was the problem. 0.188 seconds, 8267 samples.
I thought the default view "timecode" in Ardour was in units of minutes:seconds, but it wasn't, it was some other weird unit ("frames") that I don't understand.
So, my 2-seconds estimate was totally wrong, I had been moving the tracks over by entire beats to try to get them to sync up.
