[LAU] patchage port question

i recently tried using patchage to connect the zynsubfx and yoshimi
synths to rosegarden. both synths show in patchage with different
ports to usual, and i'm not sure what to do with them. the usual setup
is:
blue: audio
green: midi (alsa midi i think?)
both the above synths have a red input port. what is this - is it jack
midi? how do i work with it?

or is there any documentation for patchage, i can't find anything?
