The "once it is established" is problematic not only because it's hard
to find out something not just hidden but in opposition to the graphics.
There's also the way habits are and will be formed (misleading graphics
encourage the formation of bad habits in this case).
A more attractive rendition should be possible without hurting the
concept, but the faders look the way they do, to not fall out of the
rest of the GUI.
