For <500€ you can get lower-range (new) laptops with suitable properties at
least from hp (I am helping a friend buying one of those currently).
Or you can get a netbook (dell and probably some other manufacturers have some
with linux installed) that also does what you need. If you are unsure about
whether the system can take the synth-load, ask Atte about his setup...

In short: For that price range you can get about anything. Just ask the dealer
(or the manufacturer) if it works with linux. If they can't say, don't buy.
