why "almost"? if both tapes were part of a 16track session, they are in
perfect sync, unless the original engineer was recording under the
influence.

and as to stereo material, this could actually be a very good clue to
align the material to at least tens of usecs (yeah, sub-sample
accuracy!), if you know the intended source locations well. but then,
unless it is very experimental music, proper alignment is quite easy
anyways...

yeah, i've had rme cards for ages, but i never used the bloody thing
either... i dimly recall connecting a few adat machines with this thing,
but never to the computer.
