When you spend lots of wasted time having to clean up after jobs done by
'hobbyists' you will too.

In system design it is notorious that often times places buy multiple sound
systems because often times they get 'hobbyists' to design their systems to
begin with and often (Not always) end up with crap instead of going to
professionals that cost a lot of money. There are even nice papers written
about this exact topic.

That isn't to say that a hobbyist can't be just as good as a professional(I
have worked with some phenomenal hobbyist musicians for example), just that
it is more common that a professional produces a higher quality on a
regular basis than a hobbyist. That is often why they can make a living
doing whatever, and choose to make that living.
