That's plain BS, the two never meet. It just shows that the reviewer
doesn't know what he's talking about.

The preamp provides up to 60 dB of gain. That means it's designed
to output a line level signal. This should not be connected to a
fixed 30 dB gain mic input.

It also has a compressor and is supposed to provide a 'tube sound'.
The compressor won't do much and there won't be any tube sound
if the internal levels are just a few mV. You need to use the
input gain that is available in order to make the thing work as
designed.

This means that unless there is _passive_ attenuation on the
output, it must be connected to a line input, or at most a
mic input with much less gain than the 1010lt provides by
default.
