(1) ardour-users is the mailing list for this, as you've noted
(2) we cannot accomodate ALL window managers and their behaviour

Linux offers massive flexibility with things like window managers. This
comes with a price.

You've already figured out (based on the mail to ardour-users) what to
click on. The rest - we can't control for this and keep every Linux user
happy.

What window manager do you use?
