I think the quirk is there to tell the kernel module that it can handle the
vendor/product IDs.. so if its listed by arecord -l then that's OK.

Would you post the output of the program in the email thread that I linked?
Perhaps there's an ALSA format issue or so.

PS: Anybody have a one-liner command that lists ALSA hardware capabilities
