Hey hey Joel,
you can set a higher buffer size for the radio sream player. e.g.:
mplayer -cache 8192 stream_url
Or you can simply pause the stream for a few seconds.
If your friend runs JACK, I'm sure you can think of a way to do it with Nama
or similar applications. :) Some players have an option to set the default
output ports, again mplayer does.
