I never did! I _unambiguous_ pointed out that I agree with Jörn.

Where are the use cases in the field, apart from what Jörn already
pointed out?

Jörn pointed out stereo mic recordings as part of a larger mix and
another use case is, when there's no access to individual components of
a mix.

I added that assumed you want a wider chorus or reverb, than common
practise is to chose the appropriate effect in the first place instead
of struggling with a chain of effects. You even could split early
reflections and the reverb (tail) and control transparency and width of
the sound by aux sends.

Regarding the pan pots, what exactly is beyond completely to the right
and completely to the left? Spatial impression is something else, it's
already included by the stereo microphony mentioned by Jörn, in
addition I pointed out, that it's also possible to replace microphones
and if e.g. using effects, by choosing the wanted effect.

I also agree with your statement that there are rare cases, when it
could be useful, but it's more likely that you never experience that
rare cases, than that mid-side processing becomes an important part of
your daily work flow. Do you now claim that those cases aren't rare?

My opinion is that it shouldn't be used to manipulate the stereo sum,
if you have better control about the mix, when dong things correctly in
the first place.

Ralf
