You might want to test if 'nopti' makes a difference.

$ grep readirqs /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
LABEL Threadirqs
    MENU LABEL Arch Linux ^threadirqs
    APPEND root=LABEL=s3.archlinux ro threadirqs
LABEL Threadirqs_nopti
    MENU LABEL Arch Linux threadirqs ^nopti
    APPEND root=LABEL=s3.archlinux ro threadirqs nopti

I don't know, if it makes a difference.
