Subject: [linux-audio-dev] Linux, Snd, LessTif, and Scheme

Greetings:

  I compile Snd myself using snd.tar.gz and I've had no trouble using
'configure' or any other part of the make process. Snd appears to work
fine, except for one small (well, not so small) problem.

  I can't use the Listener. I can type in a line, but when I hit the
Enter key the cursor just sticks to the end of the line, there's no
change and nothing happens. Since I've never seen it actually work, I
assume that if the command was kosher then the cursor should drop to the
next line/prompt, right ?

  I've used three different versions of LessTif, and I don't have Motif
installed. Bill S thinks it's a LessTif problem, but I do not have this
problem with any other application I've compiled using LessTif. I have
the latest Guile installed, the configuration finds it without
complaint, and 'ldd snd' reports thusly:

        libguile.so.4 => /usr/lib/libguile.so.4 (0x40007000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x4006a000)
        libreadline.so.3 => /usr/lib/libreadline.so.3 (0x4006d000)
        libtermcap.so.2 => /lib/libtermcap.so.2 (0x40091000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40095000)
        libMrm.so.1 => /usr/local/lib/libMrm.so.1 (0x400ae000)
        libXm.so.1 => /usr/local/lib/libXm.so.1 (0x400c0000)
        libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0x401d2000)
        libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x401df000)
        libXp.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXp.so.6 (0x401eb000)
        libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x401f2000)
        libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x401fa000)
        libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 (0x4020e000)
        libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40253000)
        libc.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc.so.6 (0x402f8000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00000000)

  So, my question is: Are there any Linux Snd users out there who have
worked with anything in the Listener window ? If so, how did you get it
to work ? I really need to make it happen here, I want to report on
Snd's extensibility which seems mostly to require the Listener.

  Btw, I'm running a Red Hat 5.2 system, 2.0.36 kernel, and LessTif 0.89
(the latest release).

  Any & all help will be vastly appreciated !
