The MidiShare source code for Linux is available on the Grame CVS server.
MidiShare on Linux is separated in a kernel module and a shared library.
The kernel module contains the code used with kernel privilege : scheduler,
Midi drivers,Inter Application Communication...
The shared library contains code used by MidiShare client applications. The
library and kernel communicate using the standard ioctl mechanisms. A
device named /dev/midishare is defined.
There are two possible compilation targets :
- one without drivers which allows to test MidiShare applications, Inter
Application Communication..
- one with Midi drivers buit using ALSA (http://www.alsa-project.org)
To access the anonymous CVS, set your CVSROOT environment variable to:
CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous_AT_cvs.grame.fr:/src/midishare
Next, use the "cvs login" command to connect to the server. The password is
"anonymous". Then you can use "cvs checkout linux" to get the Linux module.
