Good point. How's this:

Therefore, our first request is that Steinberg takes some action to
allow developers to share reconfigured versions of the API
files. There are a number of existing open source licenses that enable
the original developer some level of control, and also allow closed
source application development. The LGPL and the MPL spring to mind as
