Look and see if /usr/local/lib (or wherever your libXm.so is) is
in /etc/ld.so.conf. If not add it and run (as root) ldconfig -v

My /etc/ld.so.conf:
/usr/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/kerberos/lib
/usr/lib/qt-1.45/lib
/usr/lib/qt-2.1.0/lib
/usr/local/lib
