Dave,
if you are willing to compile yet another LADSPA host: I have
uploaded the current status of my ladspaToy plugin host to:
http://home.t-online.de/home/pdq808/
Not very useful for serious work, but a quick way to test LADSPA plugins.
Accepts mono and stereo plugins, comes with a simple GUI, respects
logarithmic and sample rate hints. It also includes a limiter plugin with
very large dynamic range to avoid hard clipping of the output and a meter
with overload indicators.
Comparing VST on windows and LADSPA on my linux box, I agree that it is
much easier to operate LADSPA plugins with "wrong" parameters. On the
other hand, with freedom comes responsibility and you can have lots of fun
with just a noise generator or simple oscilator and a couple of plugins
with extreme parameters. Minimal tekkno, sort of.
Regards,
Reiner
