I suggest we do the work again. After listing a good punch of software,
I will download them to our site and we test and check how that freezed
punch of software can be turned to distro. I would not like to experiment
with a huge amount of software.

I expected that too, but I still would like to use, for example, my Debian
Slink installation as a check point. I could not compile video player
here because the graphics engine it uses didn't compile. Debian potato
is out and has both of them as packages, but it would be better to
check against some old, still-in-use version.
