hello lad and alsa folks !

having just read the wishlist for the 2.5 kernel series at

  http://kt.linuxcare.com/kernel-traffic/latest.epl ,

i found that

* ALSA was only marked "W" (for wish, not "I"mportant or "N"eeded)
* the low-latency patches are not mentioned any more.

i don't know too much about the internals of kernel development, and
it might well be that the lowlatency patches have become obsolete by
now, but i'd like to make sure.
as to the inclusion of alsa, i think this reflects a frame of mind
that dave phillips has pointed out in another mail:

* many people (even on lkml) are not yet seeing the potential and
the need to make linux a state-of-the-art multimedia platform.

a discussion about these issues here on LAD might
a) help to gather facts and result in a detailed list of audio
developers' needs
b) produce a post to lkml in which they are communicated to the
kernel folk.

(would be best if someone who already hangs out on lkml take over
this job [pbd ?])

comments ?

regards,

jörn

ps: this is some sort of follow-up to a thread named "alan doesn't
like us" that went on a while ago on alsa-dev. afaik, it ended
without any results.
