I'm puzzled.

Each audiofile in our system gets a buffer where the beginning of the
audiofile is kept. We could have hundrets of those buffers. For actual
playing we have a file stream system similar to what Benno and Paul are
using for multitrack playing.

We could separate the streaming system and the low-latency file system
by reading audio to streaming buffers either from memory (the beginnings)
or from disk.

That is perfectly okay for multitrack sequencer. Now if we add synth
stuff above this base system, then we might end up trouble. Lets
work on this base system first.
