That's not a big problem, as you can support unusual formats through
converter plugins - no host support needed.

I think the chances are even better that most developers will stick
to the official list of standard formats, so that the standard array
of converter plugins can be used. Of course, there *should* be a
version of every plugin for your favourite data format, but if there
isn't, you can still use the plugin, even if the host has no clue as
to what the plugin is operating on.
