thanks for the reference -- i really would like to understand that,
i'm off to search the lk mailing list... sigh...
[please personally forward a reference if you happen to have one :)]

(i might, er, off the cuff, note that it may require using
g++ options which *prevent* compiled code from being compatible
with libstdc++ making us incompatible with other c++ libraries...
<flamebait>of course, c++ libraries are largely incompatible
with eachother for other (semantical, eg exceptions or not) reasons...
but we should not add to that.</flamebait>)
