that would be xphat, my (discontinued-but-functioning) MIDI fader box.

not me, and i'm the author :)

its actually particular key combinations that don't work because of
the keyboard matrix under the keys.

I expect to make all visual control elements in ardour MIDI
controllable, just as they are in Quasimodo, which then means that you
can use either xphat or a separate h/w box to control things,
including the faders that will eventually show up in ardour.
