This is not a driver issue but can anyone tell me how to fix this problem.

You may want to respond off list.

When I try to load the alsa module I get this response..

# modprobe snd-card-es1968; modprobe snd-mixer-oss; modprobe snd-pcm-oss

Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.3/modules.dep

Has anyone encountered this prob while upgrading to 2.4.x kernels?

I have the latest modutils but that hasn't fixed it.
