Huh ! Maybe you would prefer it if ALSA never made it into
the kernel but that just propogates the current retard
situation we have with OSS for the rest of us.

Huh2 ! **THE** point is that the REAL OSS driver is proprietory
and NOT available to be included in the kernel. That sux !!!

Huh3 ! **I** never want to use any sound hardware that does
not include open sourced drivers, full stop (others may
but I certainly don't).

I *want* to see *some* harware encouraged to be opened up
(to avoid anything like this scenario in the future) and
accepting NDAs from a few uncooperative manufacturers just
extends the problem.

The sooner OSS and it's pandering to dickhead hardware
manufacturers gets out of the kernel the sooner we can
seriously start to work with manufacturers that ARE
responsive to opensourcing their hardware specs without
compromise. No open-boogie, no linux hw sales, no mercy.

The use of OSS over the years has done more to damage
and stifle audio development on Linux than any thing
else. The proof of my statement is that *we* still do not
have a decent music app, that works, after frigging 5++
years of OSS in the kernel, and I squarely blame it's
non-open-source inferior throw-away kernel component for
that.

The insidious part is that as long as this half-arsed OSS
audio device is around, at all, then it inhibits truly
open developement of the overall Linux audio interface.

That truly sux... begone from my kernel !!!
