the application calls audioengine_open(), registers some ports, and
provides callbacks to handle data processing. what's missing?
all that was illustrated is the client side of the API. i did not
document any part of the engine side, since that is not used by anyone
except people writing engines and is more-or-less completely
independent of the client side.
