I have a trident-based hoontech card that I can run quite happily at
64 frames. My Tropez+ is a bit more problematic at 64 frames - the two
streams don't seem to run precisely in sync with each other all the
time. I don't know if this a h/w problem or a design problem.

X seems incapable of causing dropouts on my low latency system. I use
a matrox G400 AGP video interface, with XFree86 3.3.2. I can move a
window around and nothing happens to the audio under Ardour or
Quasimodo. OTOH, I have a dual processor system, partly for exactly
this reason :)
