You are talking about "bypass". Another closely related function is
"mute". It would be nice to have two classes of these functions. The
first class would allow the client to process its input, but instead of
outputting the processed data, it would output the input for bypass and
output silence for mute. This would allow for rt toggle functionality.
The second class would actually disable the client, eliminating its
contribution to cpu load, while providing the same output as the first
class. This would preserve connection definitions but would not be
considered a rt function.
