  I have seen some ads in magazines. I like the idea becuse I think it might
be able to pick up fequencies more precisely (and of course, there's no
monitor huim etc...), each string is separated etc. so if you want to do any
dsp on the signal from guitar... specially something like converter to
midi... I don't have any links though... but google, of course, has. search
for "optical pick-up guitar" returns quite a few results.
