hi,
i've been using WindowMaker while doing audio, i've found its noticeably
less demanding than KDE or Gnome. of course the issues of using
gnome/kde libs might crop up, but there are some apps which dont use
them... anyhow, thats just my 2c worth as a good platform which still
allows you to run gui apps...
