A number of composers, producers and web developers have put together a
petition to ask Beatnik to open source their Web Tools for interactive
audio, in particular the Beatnik Player and the Beatnik Xtra.

Beatnik is focusing their development resources on the wireless space and
are no longer able to update the Beatnik tools for the web. But Beatnik is
an amazing tool for interactive web audio and no one wants to see it
languish. So a number of audio producers and web developers have put
together a petition to Beatnik to open source the Beatnik Player, the
Music-Object and the Beatnik Xtra for Director. This would benefit both
Beatnik in the wireless space, and composers/app developers on the web and
wireless.

In order for this to be successful we will need a community of
developers/coders who can work with the Beatnik wrapper code to enhance it,
port it to other platform like Linux, and come up with creative new
applications. For this reason I am contacting
The petition is located at Linux Audio Development List.
If you are interested in working with the Beatnik Interactive Audio
technology from a coding angle, it would be great if you could add your
names and comments to the petition at:

Thanks in advance. With luck interactive audio on the web will continue to
thrive and expand across all platforms.

We are moving very fast on this and would like to present Beatnik with the
petition at the beginning of next week (02/14/02) - so if there is anyway
you can assist...!
