You can buy toslink i/o modules, and (I think) AD converters with SPDIF
outputs (spdif can be wired to the TL module)

Thats all I know, I don't know one end of a soldering iron from another,
but search around on DATHead and Minidisc mailing lists, they play with this
stuff alot.
