i noticed from luca's initial report on firm timers that switching the
caps lock LED on and off is a notable source of latency in the
kernel, on the order of 7msec.
several people have noted problems with this either on ardour-dev or
on LAD, and i just wanted to assure them that they are not imagining
things. the reason that i have never seen it, i suspect, is that i run
on a dual processor system, and the delay it causes on one processor
does not stop the other from continuing on, unlike the situation on a
UP system.
