Subject: [linux-audio-dev] Jack and Hammerfall output

I've been trying to get audio output working with Jack and my Hammerfall,
with no success. In fact, I can't get audio output to work on any of my
cards through jackd. (yes, I've set the mixers properly)

My machine has a hammerfall, sblive, and onboard (intel8x0, sis chip). If
I run 'jackd -d alsa -d hw:2' and then jackplayer, I get no audio output
at all. None of the cards work, in fact. alsaplayer without jack will
work find on the sblive and onboard, but not on the hammerfall.
aplay/arecord work fine on all three cards, so I can do:

alsaplayer -d hw:1,0
[jumper from sblive(1) to hammerfall(0)]
arecord -d hw:0 -f dat | aplay -d hw:2,0

and I can listen to the slightly delayed mp3 out the onboard(2) device.

On the other hand, I can turn on hardware monitoring on the hammerfall
with alsactl, and listen to passthrough audio just fine (albeit at either
increased or decreased volume, some quirk of my Creamware A16). jack's
swmon can do the same thing (which indicates that it *is* possible to
output audio), but oddly enough forcing hwmon does *not* engage the
hammerfall's monitoring features.

Is there something I'm missing here? I should be able to at least play
audio out a normal soundcard without waving a rubber chicken... <g>

TIA,
   Omega
