Yes, I agree its a completely different thing, but ...

This doesn't match my own personal experience -- I can play with 10ms
of constant latency in the loop, and not be terribly bothered by it.
I notice it, but I can play through it, and I didn't grow up playing
instruments with big delays ... just the normal collection of
Wuzlizers, acoustic and electro-acoustic ...
But that's just me ... maybe I'm an outlier ...
