ok, thanks for the help, appreciated. im using gnome2, but since im
writing a pretty specialized app it somewhat doesnt matter if i have
to use some non-standard libs. but it would be nice if i could get it
to work on some basic distros... ;)
so far im trying out two options. sox and sndlib.
in sox i have the problem that i cant automatically tell it to stop
recording after a fixed time. so i have to rely on a messy kill of
some kind, which im sure would lead to problems with getting the
sample trimming right. any thoughts?
w/ sndlib im not able to record at all. it seems sparsely documented.
i get an error like
'tried to set recorder source to mic and line in and line1 and
line2 but got line1 and line2 instead'
from mus_audio_open_input(). the .wavs are generated but nothing is
inside them. i dont think im getting the mic device. any one have
some experience w/ using sndlib to record on Linux / i386?
