Can anybody here explain the precise meaning of "a certain extent" or
which one of the note-off's out of a plethora of choices it is that will
eventually determine some notes "natural length" ... All that you quoted
here below is gibberish if it is not also assumed that every note-on is
immediately (explicitely or implicitely) followed by a note-off. Like a
drum-machine where a notes natural length is determined by a common
decay/release parameter.
