this is exactly the idea behind a library. it serves functionality, and above
that, one can release/create the (software) ideas, without worring the basic
functionality every sound software is needed.
so many people on this list had reinvended the wheel/soundengine again and
again.

And for me, the question will be: what is in and what is out off the scope of
such a library. But this is a different discussion.

It would be much easier for all of us, to have a well accepted library with
the basic functionality. and easier means tested and proven by lots of apps
and users.
