why not contribute to an existing project ?
if you just want a normal player with a few fancy features, check
freeamp and add something.
if you're looking for a more dj-ish mp3 mixer, i think terminatorX
is a great project.

imvho, the world has enough wave editors and mp3 players.
(of course, i understand it's more challenging to start from
scratch, but there's so many invented wheels out there....)
