Just a quick thought: Isn't the flux through pipes depending on the
length,
I mean you have a pressure loss increasing with x, ln(x), x^2, dunno,
where are the engineers :)?

In that case, you'd need *strong* fans to pull the same amount of air
through the pipes...
maybe I'll find the law in the meantime... well Hagen-Poiseuille was
mass flux ~ R^4... hm
