Subject: [linux-audio-user] ecasound problems

i just installed ecasound and the ogg vorbis utilities, and they aren't
friendly together for me (i have the same problem using mp3 instead of
ogg). i need to record realaudio streams which are mono and either 16k or
20k, and ecasound works great if saving as a wav, but i'm running out of
harddrive space. if i tell ecasound to save as ogg or mp3, then i end up
with headers that say the file is stereo and 44.1k, and then the files
play back like the chipmunks on crack. i used the following command:

ecasound -f:s16_le,1,20000 -o:outfile.ogg -i:alsa,plughw:0,0 -sr:20000

if i use oggenc on the wavfile, it works just fine, but i'd rather not
have to take up all that extra harddrive space, time, nor make things more
complicated than neccessary.

thanks,
dave
