as i've never used the spdif yet on my card, i'll just take a shot at
this. make sure the spdif in l & r are unmuted and turned up on the
monitor mixer screen (move the left slider up on the left in and the right
slider up on the right in, otherwise if you turn both up you'll create a
mixed mono signal). on the patchbay/router, either select the digital
mixes for the hw out, or select the spdif ins. arecord -D plughw:0,0
should work now (use whatever -f option corresponds with minidisks).
